New Young Thing

by Dieu

Like little birds trembling with flight against the air,
my heart is a tight-rope that tremors across
your broad-shouldered love.

I am a new young thing
caught up in the woven
whispers of
confession and sin.

One day,
while standing outside your open door,
I hear you singing to yourself.

And the light is white against the floor
like snow.
