My Poetry Book

Years ago I wrote a book of poetry called, Tender Cracks, that I self-published on Blurb. It was a very quick and easy way for me to publish my poems, but it was very DIY with no proper cover (I used a photograph I had taken myself) and no ISBN. After talking to a fellow writer who has published her own books and advocated for me to try publishing my book on Amazon, I realized that I won’t be satisfied until I do a proper job of it.

So, with a lot of work and time, I revamped my book with a new cover with the help of a designer, and published Tender Cracks on Amazon Kindle.  The book is more polished looking and comes with some new poems included. The paperback version is also coming and will be available to order soon!

My Book

It’s been forever since I’ve written any poetry, but until I get inspired again and hopefully writing again, you can check out my book of poems, Tender Cracks, from the Calgary Public Library!

Today I went to the Glenbow Museum and sat in front of my favourite piece in the Arts of Asia exhibit. A bronze lacquered Buddha – glowing – otherworldly. The look on his face was one of complete peace, love, acceptance, calm. Looking at his face gave me peace and the desire to be that peaceful.

Under the weight of the night
When loneliness is most aching.
Let your heart beats fall through you.
Let them hit each nerve along your spine
Like gentle
Yet strong fingers
hitting piano keys, each beat a bird song
Singing to be heard.

Thought of the day

It is better
to be broken

Poem of the Universe

A new poem

Quote for the day

It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is well done.

To Critics

Your cutting words

suck the air out of me.

And then I breathe in the world

and hit back with

stronger, better, purer

Quote for the day

A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.

We Create Art – A thought

The purpose of great art is to rise us above our own smallness and to remind us of our great humanity.

To survive in this world one must strip everything to its essence, its core.

Once you simplify everything, everything becomes so beautiful and there is no reason to be sad.

Think of it this way: you get to eat good food, read good books, see great art and sleep sweet dreams.

Life is good.

Quote for the day

I see you in colours that don’t exist.

-Paul Matsumoto

That night when we went to see that play, and we were walking through the crowd of people after the show, you walked ahead of me but kept close by, leading the way but with your body turned towards me slightly, looking behind to make sure I was still there.

At that moment I felt an infinite feeling of tenderness towards you.

My first self-published book!

I have been neglecting my blog (and those I follow) lately because a lot has happened in the past several months, including working on compiling my poetry for my first self-published book! I went the quick and easy way, and used the Booksmart software offered by Blurb, but it still feels good.
